General Rules
* No electrical instruments, drums or recorded music is permitted. Also,
electrical pickups will not be permitted. The only exception is the electric
bass, which is allowed.
* Contestants will be allowed to stop to replace a broken string but must resume
playing the original tune.
* Bands must have at least (4) members but not more than (6).
* Bands may perform (1) vocal and (1) breakdown. The limit is (2) songs with a
maximum time of (4) minutes each.
* Sound system adjustments will be made by the official sound technician and
will remain at the same settings. (except for required feedback adjustments)
* Order of performance will be determined by a random drawing from the sign-ins.
* To help make the contest run smoothly, please comply with the following: Be
ready to go on stage when your name is called and announce the name of the band
and the songs you are going to play, but do not give time consuming
introductions, etc.
* Entry fee is $20.00 per band. All performing band members will receive free
passes to the event after paying the entry fee. You are encouraged to purchase
advance tickets for friends and family at the price of $10.00 each. Tickets
purchased at the gate will be $15.00.
Judging
Preliminary Round
* Bands will be judged on a point system of 1 through 5 with 5 being perfect
based on the following categories:
1) Timing
2) Musicianship, mastery of instrument and interplay between band members
3) Harmony
4) Stage presence, i.e. ability to engage and entertain the audience through
confidence and showmanship
* In the event of a tie, each band will play one tune to be judged for the
tiebreaker.
Finals
* At the end of the 1st round the 3 selected finalists will play in the finals.
* The three finalists will each play a 30-minute set consisting of anything they
wish to play and introductions, etc. may be made during this set. This
performance will be judged for prize money : 1st, $300, 2nd $200 and 3rd place
$100.
All decisions made by the judges are final!
