Wynnewood Restoration Project
Tornado Update Jan 2010
I am pleased to share with everyone some of the things regarding the restoration of our beloved Wynnewood. The building has been moved back onto its foundation and secured with steel cables. It has also been weather-proofed to keep it dry and free of mold. Bird netting was installed to keep out birds and animals. I am also happy to report that even though the weather was not willing to cooperate, the removal and clean-up process of the vegetative debris is now substantially complete. The site looks much better, and other clean-up and dismantling of Barn #3 should begin in mid-February. The long awaited Restoration process should begin sometime early this Spring. Potential bidders for this work will have to meet stringent criteria and submit proof to the State that they have considerable experience in historic restoration. At this time all of the Wynnewood furniture and artifacts have been recovered and housed in climate controlled storage units. The association has purchased some very nice pieces of furniture that will be true assets. We have also received some very nice furniture, graciously donated by individuals. We thank you! The most important thing is that there are a lot of caring, dedicated and competent professionals working together to insure that Wynnewood will be restored not only to its former glory, but will be better than ever for the enjoyment and education of future generations.
